We are seeking a talented and passionate Chef to join our team and lead our breakfast service, specializing in Caribbean and African food. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of both Caribbean and African culinary traditions, with a flair for creativity and innovation. As the Chef, you will be responsible for planning and executing breakfast menus that showcase the vibrant flavors and ingredients of these regions, while ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and guest satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute breakfast menus inspired by Caribbean and African cuisine, incorporating traditional dishes as well as innovative interpretations.
Prepare and cook breakfast items such as ackee and saltfish, plantains, johnnycakes, fufu, and other regional specialties with authenticity and precision.
Manage kitchen operations during breakfast service, including food preparation, cooking, plating, and quality control.
Supervise kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations, providing guidance and support as needed.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
Source and procure high-quality ingredients from local suppliers, ensuring freshness and authenticity in every dish.
Collaborate with management to develop seasonal menus, daily specials, and promotional offerings to attract and retain customers.
Monitor inventory levels, place orders, and manage food costs to optimize profitability while minimizing waste.
Train and mentor kitchen staff on Caribbean and African cooking techniques, recipes, and cultural significance.
Stay current with culinary trends, techniques, and ingredients, continually seeking ways to elevate the dining experience for our guests.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Chef specializing in Caribbean and African cuisine, with a minimum of 3 years in a similar role.
Culinary degree or diploma from an accredited institution preferred.
Deep knowledge of Caribbean and African ingredients, spices, cooking techniques, and culinary traditions.
Strong culinary skills with the ability to execute recipes with precision and consistency.
Creative flair for menu development, recipe innovation, and presentation.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high food quality standards.
Food safety certification and knowledge of health and safety regulations.
Ability to work mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
