We are one of the North Wests leading Legal practices, specialising in Personal Injury, Defamation, Clinical Negligence, Professional Negligence, and Abuse. We are currently recruiting for an experienced Legal Assistant to join our Official Injury Claims Portal team in Blackburn. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about the work they do, the service they provide and getting the best results for their clients. As Legal Assistant on the OIC Portal team you will be progressing disputed claims through the Official Injury Claim portal in an accurate and efficient manner. You will be working individually with high attention to detail but also as part of the team. The team is currently broken down between Liability Admitted cases and Liability Disputed cases. On a daily basis you will be dealing with quantum and liability dispute cases, which are unable to be settled at Stage 2 in the OIC Portal. You will be required to either negotiate settlement or failing that, issue proceedings within the OIC Portal for the Court to determine liability or quantum at a final hearing. Responsibilities to include: · General call queries/answering the team loop (Claimant and Third Party) · Reviewing Medical Evidence and valuing Whiplash Injuries · Reviewing Claimant’s Losses and Vehicle Related Losses including Credit Hire · Drafting Liability Witness Statements on behalf of the Claimant · Issuing proceedings through OIC Portal · Attending Conferences with Counsel About You: · Previous experience advantageous · Knowledge of admitted and disputed cases advantageous · Knowledge of computers particularly excel spreadsheets will be necessary · Good organisational skills · An ability to be able to prioritise work · An ability to work to deadlines and the demands of the team · An ability to work in a fast-paced demanding environment
We are in need of a pre-litigation fee earner in our Preston Office A high-volume caseload of Fast Track Personal Injury RTA Portal claims following the MOJ process. • Key Tasks: • Progressing your caseload in a manner to ensure that clients receive appropriate, professional, timely and pertinent legal advice, with regular contact, whilst managing their expectations. • To identify early those cases where proceedings would be tactically beneficial to litigate and to do so expeditiously. • Identify cases that have an element of serious injury and escalate the cases and remove form the Portal. You will be supervised and supported by a recognised solicitor within the team. • Instructing Barristers to represent clients at hearings and obtain formal Advice over issues of quantum. • Instructing Medical Agencies and Engineers and liaising with third parties. • Undertaking other duties reasonably required by partners or senior management. • Person Specification: • *Essential Skills: • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role. • A good understanding of the MOJ process. • Knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules. • Have proven IT skills and ability to adapt new technology. • Able to demonstrate strong administrative and organisational skills. • Excellent communication skills including oral and written presentation skills. • The ability to provide a high level of client care. • Desirable Skills: • Preferably claimant orientated. • Proficient with Proclaim Case Management, although training will be provided. • Experience of Infant Approval Hearings and Stage 3 hearings. • Personal Attributes: • Self-motivation to work independently and as part of a team with a 'can do' attitude. • Good interpersonal skills. • A positive approach to working under pressure in a busy environment. • Methodical approach to tasks and problem solving.
The successful candidate will have experience in Scottish Law can be dual qualified, managing a Personal Injury case load with a high percentage of litigated RTA files. Applications are invited from Solicitors with an in-depth knowledge of the RTA Process and a proven track record in RTA litigation. The role will also involve coaching and guiding junior staff in RTA law, procedures and process and court process/attendance. Additionally, the successful candidate will have experience in dealing with liability, quantum and costs. In particular, will be well experienced in the mechanics of the Part 36 procedure and relevant protocols Experience of dealing with technical points of insurance law, such as MIB work, the European Regulations and Article 75 issues would be advantageous. Arranging appointments and attending new, current and former clients and dealing with their queries including: Obtaining instructions and advising on course(s) of action, length and cost of case (as appropriate); Assessment of client’s financial means and explanation of private terms and conditions Drafting and/or dictating correspondence to client, court, solicitors counsel and other third-parties, including Statements, Notices, Applications, and other Legal Forms/Documents (especially relevant court forms); Instructing counsel, experts, solicitor advocates or other third-parties, reviewing reports and continued liaison as required; Advising on appropriate course of action; Arranging and attending hearings and conferences as and when required; Obtaining and reviewing evidence and statements; Negotiation on clients behalf and, liaison with opponents etc. to obtain most preferable outcome for clients; Ensuring efficient day-to-day progress of all matters, prioritising work as necessary and keeping the client informed on progress.
