JOB DESCRIPTION: Direct Support Professionals work with individuals and/or small groups of Developmentally Disabled (DD) and/ or Intellectual Disabilities (DI) individuals. Provide instruction, supervision and direct assistance in facilitating services as outlined in individual’s Habilitative/ Staff Action Plan. Provide training and supervision in various activity of daily living, including: self-help, communications, interpersonal relations, leisure activities, etc. Transport program participants to and from their house and activities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in the development of the individual’s Habilitative/ Staff Action Plan, Safeguards and in meeting that the objectives are in their plan of services. Assistance may be required in the following areas: cleaning, preparing snacks, social skills, budgeting, reading, math, computer skills, self-advocacy skills, volunteering, recreational and physical fitness activities. Staff may need to provide hands on demonstration, modeling, prompting, and instruction in the use of these (and other) skills.
