BI Developer - Manchester (Hybrid) Full-time | Hybrid working (2 days in office) Salary £55,000 + Benefits We are currently supporting a growing Specialty Insurance business that's investing heavily in data, analytics and modern BI capability. The role: You would work closely with the Head of Data Analytics & Insights, helping the business leverage insight from ideation through to delivery. The work is a mix of hands-on BI development, data modelling, stakeholder engagement and building scalable data solutions. We are looking for a technically strong BI Developer to join a central Analytics & Insights function within a growing data team. This role sits in one of three analytics teams and is focused on business engagement, insight generation and delivering enterprise-scale BI solutions, not self-service reporting. Key Responsibilities • Design, build and maintain enterprise-scale BI solutions., • Develop end-to-end Power BI solutions including front-end dashboards, DAX, M queries and semantic modelling., • Build robust, optimised SQL Server data models and queries., • Work within a Databricks environment (SQL/PySpark exposure is beneficial; training provided if needed)., • Engage directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements, understand challenges and translate them into technical solutions., • Support transformation initiatives, including data modelling, documentation and process improvement., • Collaborate with domain experts, particularly within underwriting and claims., • Produce high-quality dashboards and reporting that clearly link insights to business outcomes., • Contribute to ongoing projects to quickly integrate into the team and deliver value. What We're Looking For Technical Skills • Strong Power BI experience (front and back end) - DAX, M Query, dataflows, semantic modelling., • Advanced SQL Server skills (must be strong; key requirement)., • Experience working in a Databricks environment (or willingness to upskill)., • Ability to build enterprise-scale, non-self-service BI solutions. Experience & Attributes • Ideally some experience in insurance,., • Strong stakeholder engagement; able to gather requirements and explain data concepts clearly., • Experience with data modelling and linking BI outputs to real business outcomes.
