ROLE OVERVIEW
The Community Development Manager will play a vital role in helping Hampshire Cricket Board (HCB) achieve its mission to inspire, empower, and connect communities through cricket.
With the Head of Operations and Programmes, you will lead HCB's strategy to make cricket more accessible for people in underserved communities. Working closely with colleagues you will manage the expansion of HCB’s Chance to Shine Street and Lord’s Taverners Wicketz programmes, oversee the MCC Foundation Hub programme county wide and develop relationships with a range of partners in our urban communities.
ROLES AND RESPONSBILITIES
The Club Development Manager’s roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Support the Head of Operations and Programmes to devise and implement HCB’s urban cricket strategy in Southampton, Portsmouth and Basingstoke.
- Oversee the Chance to Shine Street programme, including agreeing plans on an annual basis, monitoring and reporting KPIs and financial information.
- Oversee the Lord’s Taverners Wicketz programme, including agreeing plans on an annual basis, monitoring and reporting KPIs and financial information.
- Oversee the MCC Foundation Hubs programme, including including planning and budgeting for 12 squads.
- Oversee and manage a range of events across the calendar year, with the aim of bringing together participants across HCB programmes.
- Monitor impact and show case the success of HCB’s community programmes through a variety of case studies, news articles and participant feedback.
- Line manage the Community Development Officer to deliver agreed objectives.
- Recruit, train and support a casual coaching workforce to deliver community sessions.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key community partners, including the police, local authorities and faith groups.
- Engage people from urban communities through a variety of means; helping to develop our programmes and ensure they meet the needs of participants.
- Seek new funding opportunities to expand delivery into new urban areas, beyond Southampton, Portsmouth and Basingstoke.
- Oversee and manage budgets related to urban programmes
- Ensure HCB safeguarding policies and procedures are implemented across all programmes.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- The ability to take an objective and strategic view of plans.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to work in one-to-one and group situations with a wide range of people from volunteers to senior management.
- Extensive experience of working with people from diverse communities, ideally in a coaching capacity.
- Experience of line management is desirable.
- Knowledge and understanding of social issues that exist in our communities and experience of running and/or managing programmes aimed at tackling such issues.
- Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
- Computer literate and effective user of Excel, PowerPoint and other Microsoft programmes, digital systems and tools.
- Experience of managing budgets and programmes.
- Willingness to work unsociable hours.
- Ability to travel independently between sites (Full and valid driving licence and access to a car).
WORKING HOURS
The normal working days will be Monday-Friday. Most working hours will be between 9.00am and 5.00pm, however you will be required to work evenings and weekends as and when the role requires.
