A Laboratory Operations Manager is urgently required, with an immediate start available.

The Role: To provide overarching management of all UK Biocentre Laboratories (including COVID19 and diagnostics) and technical management to support the laboratories accreditation to ISO15189:2012 activities.
Purpose of the Role: UK Biocentre, based in Milton Keynes, has been repurposed as a high throughput diagnostic laboratory for the testing of SARS-CoV-2 RNA using real-time (RT) PCR methodology. The laboratory is looking to extend its diagnostic portfolio and is also preparing an application to UKAS to be accredited to ISO15189:2012
This senior role will provide the laboratory with an individual with extensive experience in managing a diagnostic laboratory accredited to ISO15189:2012.
Working closely with laboratory shift managers and senior biomedical scientists, they will ensure that lab processes are carried out safely, efficiently and to the quality standards required of ISO15189:2012 laboratory accreditation. They will have direct line management responsibility for Shift Managers, Senior Biomedical Scientists and the laboratory training manager.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* To provide overarching management of the UK Biocentre diagnostic laboratories and technical management to support the laboratories accreditation to ISO15189:2012 (including policy, protocol development, method validation documentation, performance monitoring, maintenance and troubleshooting, data handling and interpretation and reports).
* Responsibility for the development and performance of staff working in the laboratory.
