Job Description Reporting to the Group Manager (Fleet Maintenance & Repair), the post holder will be responsible for establishing and promoting short and longer term strategies to enhance the culture of safety within the council family for all transport related activities. This involves introducing and overseeing systems and activities to maintain oversight of regulatory compliance status; organising appropriate training interventions for management, supervisors, drivers and plant & equipment operators; coordinating and managing the accident management process; conducting audits and reviews of the transportation safety management process; and monitoring metrics reflecting performance. A technical qualification within the vehicle repair & maintenance sector and experience in safety management within that environment is essential, as is a current driving licence (category B). An HNC/ Degree in Motor Vehicle Engineering, Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain, or related field is desirable. Membership of a recognised professional transport body which promotes road safety and a valid CPC - Certificate of Professional Competence is also desirable, as is a Category CE or C licence.
