Job DescriptionAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dynamic Outpatients Administrator to work in our very busy Cancer Care Department at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS). This is role is 22.5 hours per week. You will have excellent organisational and communication skills and be comfortable working under pressure. You must be able to demonstrate experience of team working and completing deadlines and you must have well established IT skills. Previous NHS experience is not a requirement but you must have a strong desire to provide the best service for our patients. Previous experience in a customer service and/or booking and scheduling role would be an advantage. ABOUT THE TEAM The oncology outpatient department is a large group of staff covering speciality clinical areas for Medical and Clinical Oncology and Haematology. You will be working as part of a team providing all aspects of outpatient support to ensure the best possible care for our patients. You will be involved in facilitating the smooth running of the patients' appointments. This job is required to work Wednesday to Friday (22.5 hours) but will require being flexible to support our service need. Saturday working on a rota basis will be necessary for this role as needed for the service. WHAT YOU'LL DO Working closely with your team to provide a comprehensive administration service, your duties will be varied but will include direct telephone communication with patients and health professionals, arranging the booking of appointments, document scanning, managing the letters and actions from the outpatient clinics and facilitating the flow of information between the various clinicians and support services, where appropriate, to help process the patient's Cancer Care pathway.
