We have a unique role at the centre of government - our core purpose is to help the government govern well, within the rule of law. We have a wide variety of truly unique work available on Fixed Term Appointments of up to 2 years. This work is to help us deal with an increased demand for legal services due to the UK's upcoming departure from the European Union. There is currently a need for experienced Senior Lawyers to join the European Legal Group (ELG) within the Cabinet Office. Your new role EU exit brings unprecedented legal challenges, in both scale and complexity. Lawyers across GLD are supporting policy officials and Ministers with analysis of the legal landscape, advice on policy options and the development of a huge range of primary and secondary legislation. You will be supporting the ordinary business of government as well as anticipating possible legal challenges and provide officials and Ministers with clear legal risk assessments. The ELG are particularly interested in Senior Lawyers with extensive experience of negotiating and drafting. Moreover, experience and knowledge of WTO trades and remedies is desirable. What you'll need to succeed The ideal candidate will have over 10 years PQE, with particular expertise in negotiation and drafting.
