Job DescriptionAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Chief Pharmacist to lead medicines management and pharmacy services across University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, one of the largest teaching hospitals in England. As the successful candidate you will be responsible for providing strategic professional leadership as well as overseeing the operational delivery of a broad range of pharmacy services. You will have excellent leadership skills and will inspire your team with your extensive knowledge and experience of hospital pharmacy services and your strong desire to drive forward the medicines optimisation agenda within the hospital and the local system. Patient and staff care, well-being and experience will be the key priorities for you. This role may extend to supporting other departments across the Clinical Support Services Care Group as required. Please be aware that the interviews will potentially be carried out via Skype, or telephone interviews to support the social distancing agenda currently in place. ABOUT THE TEAM You will be leading a team of 300+ pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and support staff to deliver a broad range of hospital pharmacy services, with a focus on quality improvement, innovation, safety and research. The digital medicines agenda is well advanced at Southampton, being a leading site for EPMA and analytics and our consultant and specialist pharmacists are leaders in their fields, with national and international reputations. Excellent quality training and development is provided by our award winning pharmacy education and training teams. Apprenticeships for support staff are well-established. We have two high volume aseptic units, a regional Medicines Information Centre and an expanding clinical trials team, which supports a high level of research activity in the organisation.
