Applicants are invited to apply for the post of specialty doctors in medical retina. This post is permanent .We are looking for an experienced medical retina doctor to join our experienced medical retinal team as a speciality doctor. The post offers a varied timetable and is unusual in that it allows the opportunity to participate in practice changing clinical trials. The successful applicant will be able to work independently whilst being supported by the consultant team.ABOUT THE TEAMSouthampton Eye Unit is a centre of excellence for medical retina services. It offers a regional service receiving medical retinal referrals from other hospitals in Hampshire, the Channel Islands and across the UK. It is a dynamic team of seven medical retinal consultants plus retinal fellows and allied health care professionals. The service has received awards from the Macular Society and won the University Hospital Southampton Clinical Impact Through Research and Innovation Awards. It is well equipped with the latest retinal imaging equipment. Uniquely it is paired with a thriving University department focused on studying retinal diseases. As part of this, the Department runs dedicated clinical trial clinics in the NIHR Southampton Clinical Research Facility. The successful applicant will participate in these studies one day a week.WHAT YOU’LL DOYou will work in sub-specialty medical retinal clinics, perform intravitreal injections and retinal laser procedures. You will work in multi-centre randomised clinical trials with an experienced clinical trial group. There will be the opportunity for undertaking your own research. There will be one casualty session every other week.WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FORAn experienced medical retinal doctor who can perform intravitreal injections and retinal lasers.
