Job DescriptionApplications are invited from enthusiastic, adaptable individuals who would enjoy working as part of a friendly team providing the Neuropathology service in this busy department. This is a training post in which the post-holder will be expected to complete a course of training to become registered with the HCPC as a Biomedical Scientist. Under the direction and supervision of qualified staff you will assist in the provision of a diagnostic neuropathology service in accordance with national and professional standards. For this varied and interesting post, you will need to be numerate and literate, ideally with laboratory experience and working towards or possess a qualification acceptable to IBMS/HCPC for registration as a Biomedical Scientist. You will be able to work as part of a team, be able to demonstrate adaptability and initiative and have good communication and organisational skills. Applicants are required to have good keyboard skills and a working knowledge of pathology IT systems would be desirable, although full training will be provided. The Neuropathology department is located in purpose built laboratories at Southmead Hospital and processes neuropathological specimens from surgical patients or autopsies. It is currently accredited to ISO 15189. This is a permanent, full-time position (37.5 hours per week, five days per week, Mon - Fri).
