The Professional Head of Track Engineering acts as technical authority for the track engineering discipline, acting as the overall guiding mind for technical competency in this discipline. The Technical Head has accountability for ensuring compliance with all relevant legislative requirements and provides technical direction to all directly related track engineering activities, setting standards, technical requirements and assurance processes for the discipline. About the role: * Technical lead of the Track Engineering discipline. * Provide technical leadership on track activities across the whole HS2 project to ensure an integrated, consistent approach to delivering the range of activities associated with the advisory and client role of the Technical Authority invested in the Infrastructure Directorate. Where necessary in conjunction with HS2 supporting financial and procurement teams, arrange for the input of specialist engineering consultants; * Lead development of requirements, specifications and standards which deliver track engineering such that they achieve HS2 systems objectives; * Provide technical expertise and advice relating to track design to both the wider organisation, and external stakeholders as required; * Assure that engineering design for track on the HS2 Railway is configured and constructed in accordance with standards and technical requirements and where necessary ensure issues are appropriately dealt with in accordance with HS2 Governance Procedures; * Engage and consult as appropriate with critical interface parties and stakeholders, particularly civils engineering, Infrastructure Management and Systems Delivery teams, and support technical procurement as required; * Ensure that the HS2 Technical Governance arrangements are followed, carry out peer reviews and make recommendations for improvements where necessary; * Develop and implement the use of best practice and innovative engineering techniques, technologi...
