As a Network Infrastructure Cabling Engineer, you will be responsible for installing both copper and fibre optic network cabling infrastructures in a wide variety of buildings across both the public and private sectors, this would include residential, commercial, defence and justice environments.
Using your excellent installation standards and attention to detail, whilst following the installation design drawings and specification, you will take great pride in delivering high quality consistent and compliant installations to meet both Virtua UK’s and our customers’ expectations.
Key Skills Required
- 2+ years’ experience in the installation of network cabling infrastructures in a variety of building types.
- Conversant in UTP Category 5e, UTP Category 6, UTP Category 6a, Voice and Fibre Optic installation practices including FTTx (Fibre to the Home), methodologies, and standards.
- Copper and Fibre cable termination, fibre optic fusion splicing inclusive of testing using the latest network infrastructure test equipment.
- Installation of all cable containment systems including PVC and Galvanized steel trunking, cable tray, basket, and conduits.
- Knowledge of Openreach PIA network desirable
- Openreach MDU and associated accreditations desirable, such as N023 / N029 / SA20 / k008 / SA002.
- Knowledge of GPON, XGPON, XGSPON network designs, splitter ratios and faut finding desirable.
- An ECS Card and/or IPAF certification is essential.
- Industry qualification, City & Guilds or BTEC in network data cabling system preferable.
- Knowledge of the latest Health & Safety infrastructure construction guidelines, standards, fire safety and asbestos awareness.
- An excellent problem solver, you will be proactive, flexible, and creative in your approach to each installation.
- A positive attitude to working on one’s own initiative to achieve project goals.
- Willingness to undertake specific customer required training and inductions
