- Recruit, develop, supervise and retain a skilled and motivated staff team
- Promote safeguarding and ensure that children’s welfare remains central to all decisions
- Develop and maintain care plans, risk assessments and behaviour-support strategies
- Build effective relationships with families, local authorities, social workers and other professionals
- Monitor the quality of care and implement continuous service improvements
- Manage staffing, rotas, budgets, referrals and occupancy effectively
- Maintain accurate records and ensure the home is always inspection-ready
- Participate in the management on-call rota when required
ABOUT YOU
The successful candidate will:
- Have at least two years’ experience working within residential childcare
- Have at least one year’s experience in a supervisory or management position within a children’s residential setting
- Hold the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or an equivalent recognised qualification
- Alternatively, be working towards the Level 5 qualification and able to complete it within the required timeframe
- Have a strong working knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, safeguarding requirements and Ofsted’s inspection framework
- Be eligible and willing to register with Ofsted
- Have experience leading, supervising and developing residential childcare teams
- Demonstrate strong safeguarding, risk-management and decision-making skills
- Be confident managing challenging situations calmly and professionally
- Have excellent written, organisational and communication skills
- Hold a full UK driving licence
Previous experience successfully registering or managing a new children’s home would be highly desirable.
