3D Designer - Senior & Junior Job Specification Damn Good Ltd is a successful, family-run business that has grown rapidly within the Events and Exhibition industry, earning recognition for our creativity, quality, and exceptional service. Our passionate team design, build, manage and install outstanding exhibition stands for some of the UK & Europe’s biggest brands. We’re now looking for Senior and Junior 3D Designers who are passionate about live events and want to progress their careers within the exhibition and experiential marketing industry. Please note: This is a full-time, office-based role at our Milton Keynes head office. We are not currently recruiting freelance or remote designers. Main purpose of the role: To develop creative and practical design concepts for exhibition stands, live events and commercial interiors, producing high-quality 3D visuals and technical construction information for handover to our in-house production teams. Working closely with Sales, Project Management and Production, you’ll help deliver engaging, buildable designs that meet strict timelines, venue regulations and budget requirements, while maintaining Damn Good’s creative standards. Key Responsibilities & Experience Brief Development & Concept Creation • Carry out event and venue research ahead of project kick-off meetings., • Challenge and develop client briefs to arrive at a clear, agreed concept and budget prior to visualisation. Client Communication & Presentation • Confidently present concepts to clients both in person and via Microsoft Teams., • Clearly explain design intent, materials, layouts and build considerations. Creative Design & Visualisation • Develop concepts using sketches, 2D layouts and 3D modelling., • Produce high-quality 3D renders and presentation decks that bring designs to life. Specification & Materials • Specify materials, finishes and build methods in collaboration with the wider team., • Build relationships with suppliers to ensure suitable, cost-effective solutions. Cost Awareness & Budget Control • Obtain supplier quotations for materials and services., • Design within agreed budgets, ensuring commercial margins are maintained. Timeline & Project Delivery • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting agreed deadlines and milestones., • Ensure designs are delivered on time and ready for production. Studio & Team Collaboration • Work closely with Sales, Project Managers and Production teams throughout the project lifecycle., • Depending on experience, support or manage junior designers and contribute to onsite installation teams. Desirable Skills & Experience Technical Construction Drawings • Translate approved concept designs into detailed technical construction drawings, • Prepare drawings ready for handover to the in-house production and installation teams Artwork Preparation & Print Production • Prepare artwork using supplied client assets or original design content, • Create templates and final artwork for client approval, • Manage artwork through to print production in line with project timelines Project Management (Senior Designers) • Deliver full 3D design and project management services for assigned projects, • Oversee production, installation and breakdown stages, • Manage projects end-to-end, from design approval through to live delivery, • Support or lead onsite installation teams and third-party suppliers, • Manage final client handover and resolve any on-site issues as required Venue & Organiser Liaison • Liaise with venue services and show organisers to ensure design compliance, • Confirm installation arrangements, access schedules and service orders, • Ensure all health & safety documentation and approvals are in place prior to build Website & Social Media Content • Contribute to website and social media content in line with the company’s content strategy, • Work closely with the Design Manager and Project Team to plan and deliver updates, • Support showcasing completed projects and live event activity Candidate Requirements: Essential Skills & Experience • Proven experience working within the exhibition and events industry, • Strong proficiency in:, • SketchUp, • Adobe Creative Suite, • V-Ray, • AutoCAD, • Comfortable using Microsoft 365, spreadsheets and CRM systems, • Experience working in a fast-paced design studio and meeting tight deadlines, • Self-motivated, organised and able to work independently, • Strong communication skills with clients, suppliers and internal teams, • Full UK driving licence (due to office location) Location: MK17 8BU Salary: £35,000 - £50,000 pa, subject to experience and skill set.
