Duties:
Develop new pastry products: Design and create cakes, desserts, and small bread that incorporate Asian cultural elements while appealing to the UK market.
Create custom cakes and desserts for special occasions: Develop bespoke designs for events such as weddings, anniversaries, and other celebrations, tailored to client preferences and unique themes.
Collaborate with marketing: Work closely with marketing executives to understand customer preferences, particularly those from Asian (Chinese and Japanese) cultural backgrounds, and translate their vision into custom designs.
Standardize ingredients:: Establish and maintain ingredient standards for all cake and pastry products, ensuring consistency and quality.
Drive cultural branding:: Ensure all pastry designs reflect the brand’s cultural values and aesthetic, creating a distinct and memorable market presence.
Where the job sits on the hierarchy chart: This position is part of the core management team and reports directly to the Company Director
Salary: £39,000 - £40,000 + incentive/bonus
Skill, experience and qualification required:
Working experiences: Demonstrated experience in designing cakes, desserts, or small breads.
Culture understanding: Strong understanding of Asian (Chinese and Japanese) cultural elements, particularly as they apply to pastry design and customer preferences.
Creative excellence: Exceptional skills in creating unique pastries that combine artistry and cultural storytelling.
Leadership Skills: Ability to manage and inspire a team, ensuring high standards in both creativity and execution.
Language proficiency: Fluent in English; knowledge of Mandarin or Japanese is a plus.
Education: A bachelor’s degree or above is preferred.
