The Opportunity We are working with a well established, family run engineering contractor delivering mechanical building services across a wide range of sectors including commercial, residential, healthcare, education, data centres, laboratories, and retail. Due to a sustained period of growth and multiple project awards, they are looking to appoint an experienced M&E Project Manager to support delivery across key projects. Remuneration • £70,000-£75,000 (Perm only) or £350-£400 a day (Freelance), • Car Allowance, Private Health Care, Death in Service, Pension (Perm only) Current Project The successful candidate will initially be delivering a £3.5m mechanical & public health package based in Shinfield, Reading (M4 Corridor), involving: • Full mechanical & public health pipework installation, • Laboratory, welfare and office environments, • LTHW, CHW, domestic water, lab water, SVP, RWP & drainage systems, • Mixed installation methods (welded, screwed, brazed, solvent weld, fusion), • Working alongside a Tier 1 main contractor, • Programme duration: 30–40 weeks The Role As Project Manager, you will take full responsibility for project delivery from pre-construction through to handover and commercial close-out. Key responsibilities include: • Managing full project lifecycle (programme, cost, quality & delivery), • Leading site teams and coordinating subcontractors, • Client-facing – attending progress, coordination & commercial meetings, • Managing cost plans, forecasting and reporting, • Supporting QS with applications, variations and contractual matters, • Ensuring compliance with JCT/NEC contracts, • Driving health & safety, quality and programme performance, • Mentoring junior team members and leading by example (Full job description available upon request) About You • Proven experience as an M&E / Mechanical Project Manager, • Strong background in pipework & mechanical building services, • Commercially aware with strong understanding of JCT/NEC contracts, • Confident leading teams and managing stakeholders, • CSCS Black Card (NVQ Level 6) – essential The Business • UK-based, family-run engineering contractor, • Circa £9m turnover, • Team of ~20 direct staff + 100+ subcontractors, • Strong pipeline across the M4 corridor and London
