We’re seeking a Technical Director to join our client’s newly appointed Director of Fire Engineering and Principal Fire Engineer, assisting in developing the fire engineering team, progressing innovative software-driven solutions, and delivering high-impact projects. You will have the opportunity to work from their brand new office in Birmingham, developing the fire engineering team, projects, and clients, shaping the division’s future and driving real growth. Lead Innovation in Fire Engineering Software & Solutions With a turnover of £75 million and increasing, our client’s Fire Engineering division currently generates £4 million, and is positioned for significant growth. They are proud to be developing one of the UK’s leading fire engineering software packages, putting them at the forefront of innovation. You will assist in leading the Fire Engineering division with responsibility for strategy, delivery, and growth. You’ll oversee the application and further development of the proprietary fire engineering software, as well as train and develop the team of fire engineers — helping to set new industry standards. With autonomy to shape your projects, team, and client relationships, you’ll drive commercial success and technical excellence in a results-driven environment. Key Responsibilities • Develop and own your fire engineering projects and client relationships, • Technical development of the current fire engineering team, • Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing fire engineering team, • Drive the adoption and enhancement of proprietary and industry-leading software tools, • Deliver performance-based, compliant fire engineering solutions for complex projects, • Collaborate with clients, architects, regulators, and software developers, • Represent the company in technical forums and industry events, • Contribute to business development and strategic growth planning Fire Engineering profile • Degree in Fire Engineering, Fire Safety, or related discipline, • Ideally Chartered Engineer (CEng) or similar on track to achieve accreditation or qualified in a similar discipline, • Experience managing in fire engineering or leadership roles, • Experience working with or developing fire engineering software is a plus, • Proven ability to grow and lead teams in a consultancy environment, • Commercially aware, self-motivated, and entrepreneurial mindset, • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, • Please note that our client would consider a Principal Consultant or Associate Director with the ability to deliver this role.
