Title: Laboratory Manager Company: Life Sciences/ Medical research Location: Near Hatfield/Luton - UK - On-site/Hybrid Planet Pharma is partnered with a UK based medical research company specialising in Drug discovery and diagnostics development, Antibody engineering / humanisation and other areas. Our client is currently hiring for a Laboratory Manager to join their team, based near Hatfield. Main Responsibilities: • Oversee daily lab operations including equipment maintenance, supplies management, contractor coordination, and safety compliance., • Manage key lab services such as gas and ventilation systems, temperature monitoring, waste disposal, and stores., • Lead and support lab refurbishments, layout planning, and infrastructure upgrades for new or existing facilities., • Act as the main point of contact for lab-related issues and emergencies (including out-of-hours response)., • Lead procurement and inventory management for lab equipment, consumables, and service contracts., • Maintain accurate records of lab assets, service agreements, and third-party vendors., • Train and onboard new staff, visitors, and contractors on lab protocols and safety procedures., • Coordinate with scientists and technical staff to schedule maintenance and resolve technical issues., • Manage lab systems, including equipment booking platforms and workflow coordination., • Foster strong working relationships with internal teams and external partners. Main Requirements: • NEBOSH / IOSH Managing Safely qualification (or equivalent)., • Experience in lab management within an industrial (pharma/biotech) setting., • In-depth knowledge of lab equipment, biosafety, chemical handling, and lab operational standards., • Experience overseeing lab infrastructure, service contracts, and supplier/vendor relationships., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and lab management systems., • Demonstrated experience supporting lab expansions and managing refurbishments., • Ability to manage maintenance with minimal disruption and respond flexibly to technical issues., • Strong grasp of lab compliance requirements and safety standards. Desirable • Familiarity with equipment used in high-throughput screening, antibody discovery, or molecular biology labs., • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience. Interested?
