Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive Primary SEN School in the Salford area that caters for pupils with complex needs, including learning disabilities, physical disabilities, sensory needs, and speech and language delays. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of children requiring specialist support.\n\nAbout the Role\n\nAs an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment. Your responsibilities will include:\n\nProviding 1:1 and small-group support, delivering tailored interventions to meet individual needs.\nSupporting pupils with personal care, including toileting, feeding, mobility assistance, and hygiene routines.\nAssisting with behaviour management, promoting positive behaviour strategies and helping pupils regulate emotions.\nAdapting learning materials and supporting lesson delivery to ensure pupils can fully access the curriculum.\nEncouraging communication and interaction using a range of strategies, including visual aids and speech & language activities.\nWorking collaboratively with teachers to support lesson planning, differentiation, and classroom organisation.\nHelping maintain a safe, stimulating environment, with a nurturing approach tailored to each child’s developmental stage.\n\nRequirements\n\nTo be considered for this role, you must have:\n\nPrevious experience supporting children or young people with complex SEN needs, ideally within an educational or care setting.\nExperience with learning disabilities, sensory needs, physical disabilities or speech & language delays.\nConfidence supporting personal care and mobility assistance.\nStrong behaviour‑management skills and the ability to build trusting, supportive relationships.\nAn Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one through Teaching Personnel).\nA patient, compassionate, and resilient approach, with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.\nThe ability to work effectively as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.\n\nWhat Teaching Personnel Can Offer\n\nCompetitive daily pay depending on experience\nAccess to free and discounted CPD courses, including Autism Awareness, SEN Strategies, and Safeguarding\nPersonal consultant support throughout your placement\nOpportunities for long-term progression in SEN settings\n\nAll applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
