Hours: 21 per week (This will be on a rota to include 2 Sundays per month, the rest of the hours will be Monday- Weds exact hours to be agreed with the successful candidate.) We specialise in working with women and families who face multiple disadvantages and complexity of needs. The role of Support Worker will be responsible for providing advocacy and support for women and children who have been subject to domestic abuse. The successful candidate will be part of a team providing a great supported living environment within our communal and dispersed accommodation and in the community settings. You will provide personal welfare support and ensure that families are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment along with practical, emotional and safety planning. A full Enhanced Disclosing and Barring Service check will be required for this post. As a part of our core support team you be flexible to meet the needs of a wide variety of women and individuals in a fast paced environment and capable of working with minimum supervision. The Role The role of the candidate will be, both to provide direct two-to-one care for the client in the home and community, and 1:1 care at night as an oncall sleep in shift. The successful candidate will be friendly, professional and a team player, with a passion to provide high quality care. Direct Care The candidate will work alongside another support worker to deliver the following care to the client: personal care, medication administration, and meeting manual handling needs. He is autistic, non verbal, has a movement disorder and epilepsy which results in regular seizures, a PEG for medication and fluids but eats foods orally. He can walk with support but is also a wheelchair user. He lives with his loving and supportive family, who recognise that his team of carers support workers are instrumental in his overall development and well being. Overview of role: He requires an experienced waking night carer to join his team to assist with his bedtime routine and tend to all his needs throughout the night. This is an active night as you will need to keep a close eye on him, and following protocols if he has a seizure, supporting him with personal care, monitoring for any signs of distress, and In the mornings administering his PEG feed and medications. You will help sooth him, making sure he is comfortable, and he can get as much rest as possible. All activity throughout the night is to be accurately documented. Additional shifts available to cover leave etc. To attend staff meetings & supervision. To participate in training as required. To arrive in plenty of time to begin shift, read the handover notes and to receive information in handover from the staff team regarding the day’s events. Keep his environment clean and tidy. Help to fold and tidy away his laundry. You may have to attend holidays with the young person, which is usually for 1 week to 10 days in the summer and support him during occasional long weekends away mostly with his family.
