  • Hot Sauce Chef
    Hot Sauce Chef
    £14–£16 hourly
    Part-time
    London

We are looking for a self-employed to make hot sauce & chilli jam. Though the hours are extremely flexible (you can come and make jam anytime you wish as long as our inventory is kept stocked up), you MUST be able to commute regularly to our kitchen in Hackney Wick, so East London candidates are preferred. Shift times are minimum 4 hours to get real cooking done and up to 8-10 hours a day. We estimate you will start with 10 hours per week but it can grow. Trial period is paid at £13.50 while training, then £16 afterwards. If you are training someone else, £18/hour. WE PAY WEEKLY WITH INVOICE! EVERY MONDAY WE PAY YOU THE PREVIOUS HOUR'S. You must have excellent attention to detail and be highly organised, as with batch cooking the stakes are high: one missing ingredient and you will have to chuck the entire batch (100+ bottles). Cook times are short and recipes are "simple" but perfect timings are everything so you must keep a watchful eye on all four times. No jar can go out with a crack or a hair. You must have previous batching and quality control experience. You will be expected to: • Manage 4 induction hobs at once, • Lift heavy pots and pour hot liquids into containers, • Bottle and lid jars (you will have support from a sous-chef), • Clean pots, pans, kitchen surfaces and generally maintain a clean kitchen up to food safety standards, • Have great communication -- we are a small business and looking to create a community and a fun vibe This is an extremely fun and flexible job for the right person. We are looking for someone highly energetic who is looking to grow with an exciting, young, small team. There is potentially parking on-site. There are additional work opportunities involved at London Minimum Wage (labeling, organising, packing orders) and bike courier work. Job Type: Freelance Application question(s): • Give us an example of what you think is an unforgivable error for a chef who has just started a new role, • What exactly about our job description caught your eye?, • Describe your kitchen personality in a couple of sentences. :) Work Location: In person
