A receptionist is the face of the company. It is a person who performs reception duties at a place of business. These duties, depending on the position, can include answering telephones, faxing documents, opening and distributing mail, greeting clients and visitors, scheduling appointments and conference rooms, and maintaining office files and records. 

Receptionists must be able to perform many tasks simultaneously. The receptionist must be an effective communicator , professional, organised, multitasking, flexible and have a positive attitude. To take on a receptionist job, no specific qualification is required. However, some employers may prefer the applicant to have completed their GCSEs, especially in Maths and in English. Possessing basic computer skills will also work in their favour. A receptionist earns an average salary of £11.30/hour in the United Kingdom.
