Field Quality Control Inspector – Help Build Parks, Playgrounds & Public Spaces Across New Jersey Job Overview Company: Sureplay, a division of Picerno-Giordano Construction, LLC Salary/Pay Rate: $60,000 – $80,000 per year, based on experience Location: Kenilworth, NJ — office-based with local travel to active job sites throughout New Jersey Job/Employment Type: Full-Time Project Scope: Civil construction, parks, playgrounds, recreation spaces, surfacing, public works, site improvements, and municipal/government projects Required License: Valid Driver’s License Preferred Certifications: OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 The Opportunity Picerno-Giordano Construction / Sureplay is seeking a Field Quality Control Inspector to support active civil construction, parks, playground, surfacing, and recreation projects throughout New Jersey. This role is ideal for someone with a strong eye for detail, working knowledge of civil/site construction, and the confidence to visit job sites, review work against plans and specifications, document issues, and communicate clearly with field leadership, project managers, subcontractors, engineers, and office staff. You will serve as an extra set of eyes in the field, helping ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and in line with project requirements before small issues become punch-list problems or project delays. Key Responsibilities\n • Conduct regular field inspections on active civil, parks, playground, surfacing, and recreation construction projects.\n, • Review work in progress against project plans, specifications, drawings, scopes, and site requirements.\n, • Monitor field crews and subcontractors for quality, safety, material use, and adherence to project expectations.\n, • Identify deficiencies, incomplete work, site issues, material concerns, or non-compliant work and escalate them promptly.\n, • Maintain accurate inspection records, including photos, notes, daily logs, reports, and punch-list updates.\n, • Communicate clearly with project managers, field leadership, subcontractors, engineers, architects, clients, and office staff regarding project progress, issues, and resolutions.\n, • Track field quantities, materials, site conditions, and completed work to support billing, forecasting, and project closeout.\n, • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to identify and address construction, design, safety, or specification issues quickly.\n, • Help reduce rework and punch-list delays by catching quality, safety, and specification issues early.\n, • Support coordination between the field and office to keep multiple short-duration projects moving efficiently.\n Qualifications\n • 1–3+ years of experience in civil construction, sitework, public works, field inspection, quality control, assistant project management, or related field operations.\n, • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, specifications, scopes, and field documents.\n, • Working knowledge of civil/site construction activities such as grading, drainage, concrete, surfacing, site preparation, material sequencing, and subcontractor workflows.\n, • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify field issues before they become rework or punch-list problems.\n, • Comfortable visiting multiple active job sites and communicating with field crews, subcontractors, engineers, and office staff.\n, • Strong written documentation skills, including notes, photos, reports, and issue tracking.\n, • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally to job sites throughout New Jersey.\n, • Ability to work independently while keeping internal teams informed and aligned.\n Preferred Qualifications\n • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.\n, • Experience with public works, municipal, school, park, playground, recreation, or site improvement projects.\n, • Experience in quality control, field inspection, assistant project management, or site supervision.\n, • Familiarity with civil construction sequencing, safety expectations, and subcontractor coordination.\n, • Experience documenting field issues through photos, logs, reports, or punch lists.\n Compensation & Benefits\n • $60,000 – $80,000 per year, based on experience.\n, • Weekly pay cycle.\n, • 401(k) retirement savings program with employer match.\n, • Company-paid medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.\n, • Paid time off, including holidays, vacation, and sick leave.\n, • Training opportunities, including manufacturer, OSHA, and fall-protection certifications.\n, • Company-provided technology, such as a smartphone or tablet.\n, • Company vehicle available for jobsite travel during the workday, when applicable.\n, • Supportive team environment with long-term growth opportunities.\n Schedule \n • Full-time position.\n, • Time split between the Kenilworth office and active job sites throughout New Jersey.\n, • Local travel required.\n, • This is not a remote role.\n Work Location\n • Kenilworth, NJ.\n, • Active project sites throughout New Jersey.\n Sureplay a division of Picerno-Giordano Construction, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender expression, and sexual orientation), parental status, national origin, age, disability, genetic information (including family medical history), political affiliation, military service, or any other status protected by law or regulations.
