Job Description \n North Shore University Hospital is a destination center for ALL cardiac care. Perfusionists will become proficient if not already in ECMO, MCS, and Transplant. We are the only center on Long Island that offers Heart/Lung Transplants. \n Assembles, primes, re-circulates, and tests the extracorporeal circuit prior to initiation of heart-lung bypass. Monitors and observes the operations of the heart-lung machine during procedure. \n Job Responsibility \n \n\n • Assembles, primes, re-circulates, and tests the extracorporeal circuit prior to initiation of heart-lung bypass.\n, • Modifies extracorporeal circuit and/or incorporates the use of special equipment to accommodate operative procedure to be performed.\n, • Makes adjustments, based on the patient’s physiologic parameters, as required to maintain adequate perfusion.\n, • Responsible for the administration of medications, blood components, and anesthetic agents via the extracorporeal circuit.\n, • Disassembles and cleans the perfusion equipment following termination of the procedure.\n, • Orders and maintains adequate supplies from various departments (e.g. Central Supply, Warehouse, Pharmacy, etc.).\n, • Monitors and observes the operation of the heart-lung machine.\n, • Obtains blood samples during procedures.\n, • Performs advanced blood therapies including PRP, platelet Gel, hemofiltration, and autotransfusion.\n \n\n • Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.\n, • Current Clinical Perfusionist (ABCP) Certification in New York State, and Current License to practice as a Perfusionist in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.\n, • 1-3 years of relevant experience, required.\n\n *Additional Salary Detail \n The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.When determining a team member's base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).
