We are seeking a results-driven and experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our leadership team and uphold our commitment to clinical excellence and regulatory compliance.
Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing (DON) in overseeing all nursing operations within the facility. This leadership role ensures that all nursing services are delivered in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, as well as facility policies and procedures. The ADON will drive performance improvement initiatives, promote clinical best practices, and foster a culture of accountability and professional development among nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to plan, develop, organize, and evaluate the overall operations of the Nursing Department.
Provide direct supervision and performance management for nursing personnel, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and compliant resident care.
Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies for nursing staff.
Oversee and ensure compliance with infection control, quality assurance, and risk management programs.
Monitor and evaluate resident care delivery to ensure adherence to clinical standards and individualized care plans.
Conduct rounds to assess staff performance, resident outcomes, and compliance with facility policies.
Coordinate staff education, training, and competency evaluations.
Assist in developing and implementing nursing policies, procedures, and best practices aligned with organizational goals.
Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and family conferences.
Serve as acting Director of Nursing in the DON’s absence.
Qualifications:
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York (in good standing).
Minimum of 3–5 years of clinical experience, including at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
Proven experience in rehabilitation or long-term care settings required.
Strong working knowledge of DOH, CMS, and other regulatory standards.
Exceptional leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage teams, set priorities, and achieve departmental objectives.
