Job Description Position Purpose: Veolia is seeking a Water Treatment Process and Industrial Instrumentation Technician (union position, on-call) to support the operation, maintenance, and optimization of water treatment plant and distribution system equipment. This role focuses on the installation, calibration, repair, and troubleshooting of industrial instrumentation and control systems from manufacturers such as Siemens, Hach, and Endress+Hauser, Allen Bradley as well as the operation and monitoring of water quality instrumentation, analyzers, and SCADA/PLC systems. The technician will work collaboratively with operations and maintenance teams to ensure compliance with water quality standards and maximize system efficiency. Primary Duties/Responsibilities: • Install, calibrate, maintain, and repair industrial instrumentation and control equipment (flow meters, analyzers, transmitters, sensors, etc.), • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with instrumentation, PLCs, and SCADA systems, providing timely solutions to minimize downtime., • Experienced with water treatment plant and distribution system equipment, including pumps, valves, and chemical feed systems., • Collect and analyze water and sludge samples; perform chemical and analytical testing., • Conduct preventive maintenance and routine inspections of equipment., • Maintain accurate records of work performed, calibration data, and equipment inventory using CMMS and other methods., • Interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics for installation and troubleshooting., • Work with manufactures representatives to assist in troubleshooting and repair., • Collaborate with engineering operations and maintenance teams for process optimization and system upgrades., • Respond to alarms, emergencies, and participate in an on-call for after-hours support., • Adhere to and promote Veolia’s safety policies and practices., • With proper electrical background, installs, maintains, services, tests, calibrates and repairs all instrumentation and measuring equipment, including telemetering and supervisory controls at all stations and other locations as assigned., • Reads and works from schematics, wiring diagrams, electrical blueprints and drawings., • Must keep abreast of rapidly changing technology by acquiring and maintaining the skills and knowledge needed through a company assisted training program., • Keeps records of equipment maintained and repaired., • Uses, adjusts, and repairs electronic testing equipment., • Performs other similar or less skilled work as assigned., • Assists employees of a higher classification as assigned.Qualifications Education/Experience/Background: • High School Diploma/GED is required., • Electrical experience required., • Demonstrated experience with Siemens, Hach, Endress+Hauser, or similar industrial instrumentation., • Strong knowledge of PLC programming and SCADA system interfaces., • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and wiring diagrams., • Computer literacy with Google Suite and Microsoft Office applications., • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and record-keeping skills., • Ability to interface with technical solutions resources from manufacturers and representatives., • Trade school certification in industrial instrumentation, electronics, or a related field preferred., • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs., • Normal visual acuity, manual dexterity, and hearing ability., • Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and detect odors. Position Summary: Responsible for complex and diversified assembly of a variety of products in which mechanical drawings or work instructions are provided. Intricate fitting, adjusting, and aligning of a considerable number of parts (involving close tolerances and interrelated factors) are required to complete products, units, or sub-assemblies. Hand tools and usage of machines will be required to perform the assembly. Follows schedule provided by SAP and management. Position Responsibilities: Assembles and/or wires complex equipment following blueprints, models, and model prints. Skilled adjusting, fitting, and aligning are required within close tolerances. Follows work cell procedures or mechanical drawings and product structures. Sets up, operates, and maintains basic production machines such as component engravers, presses, crimpers, riveting or encapsulation machines. Is flexible and able to perform many operations on product in and outside of home department. Uses hand and power tools as required. Builds harness assemblies. Light usage of computers to monitor and report job status and component availability. Will need to be able to open prints or work instructions from system and write to excel or SAP databases. May perform thru-hole PCB assembly. Performs related duties as assigned by Supervisor. Works overtime as required. Strives to meet prescribed quality standards in an ISO environment. Follows proper use of PPEs to promote a safe work environment and performs 5S steps to ensure clean, hazard-free, and efficient work area. Skills and Experience Required: Minimum of 1-3 years electro-mechanical assembly experience. Mechanical assembly with electronic/electrical safety knowledge is acceptable. Ability to read blueprints and schematics; read and identify proper components and color schemes. Must present excellent workmanship standards. Must have good verbal communication skills.
