About the Position of Automotive Mechanic As Mavis's leaders in undercar repairs, our Automotive Mechanics are trusted to inspect, diagnose, and perform a wide variety of automotive services on customers' vehicles. Mavis's Automotive Mechanics perform a wide variety of undercar repairs, including brakes, struts, and shocks. Automotive Mechanics are also responsible for completing state-mandated inspections, changing oil and filters, checking fluids, replacing worn parts, and dismounting, mounting, rotating, and balancing tires. To be eligible for the position of Automotive Mechanic, you must (1) be at least 18 years of age; (2) be legally authorized to work in the United States; (3) possess 2 years of experience and/or training in automotive repair and maintenance or any combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position; and (4) possess an extensive tool box of personal tools used in performing undercar repairs. The following additional qualifications are preferred: (1) state inspection license(s); and (2) ASE Certifications in Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair (G1), Suspension and Steering (A4), and Brakes (A5). As an active position, Automotive mechanics are required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, pull, reach and perform repeated and repetitive movements consistent with vehicle maintenance and automotive repair. Our technicians deliver high?quality maintenance and repair services directly at customer locations, diagnosing and resolving issues efficiently outside a traditional shop environment. This role requires a skilled, adaptable professional who can work independently, manage their own schedule and inventory, and maintain strong communication with customers. Our garage is located in West Haven, Connecticut and our Mobile Technicians travel to different locations throughout Connecticut. Pay based on skill set: Earn What You Produce Flat Rate Pay Hourly ranges $25 to $35 per billable hour Responsibilities: • Perform on?site diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on commercial and medium?duty vehicles, including engines, brakes, electrical systems, suspensions, starters, alternators, transmissions, and more., • Complete routine services such as oil changes, brake inspections, tune?ups, tire rotations, radiator replacements, and minor body or component repairs (doors, steps, etc.)., • Deliver exceptional service by resolving on?site issues efficiently, professionally, and with a focus on customer satisfaction., • Manage and maintain a mobile service vehicle stocked with necessary tools, parts, and diagnostic equipment to complete repairs efficiently., • Document all services performed, parts used, and customer interactions accurately using Shop Monkey., • Adhere to all safety protocols and industry standards to ensure a safe working environment for both the technician and customers., • Work independently while staying connected to a supportive team for guidance, escalation, and resource coordination. Skills: • Proficient in diagnosing and repairing issues such as starters, transmissions, alternators, and radiators., • Utilizes technical diagnostic skills daily to identify and resolve complex vehicle issues efficiently., • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities, • Proficiency with digital tools and mobile applications supports accurate documentation and streamlined service delivery., • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a mobile work environment. Minimum Qualifications: • Two years of mechanical automotive experience require with a strong background with medium-duty vehicles, particularly Freightliner, Ford Transit, and Dodge ProMaster, • Possession of a valid drivers license with a clean driving record., • Toolbox with essential tools. License: • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation required., • Valid automotive technician certification (e.g., ASE certification) or equivalent experience preferred Preferred Qualifications: • Previous experience working in a mobile automotive service role., • One year of engine repair experience. Physical Requirements: • Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment or vehicle parts up to 50lbs as part of routine repair tasks., • Comfortable standing, bending, kneeling, or working in awkward positions for extended periods during diagnostics and repairs, • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow, when servicing vehicles onsite., • Capable of operating hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively, • Adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity to perform detailed mechanical and electrical work., • Ability to enter, exit, and maneuver around commercial and medium?duty vehicles safely., • Must be able to drive and operate a mobile service vehicle for extended periods.
