About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Customs Entry Writer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and processing customs documentation to ensure the timely and compliant importation of goods. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, import procedures, tariff classifications, and customs brokerage operations.
Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and submit customs entry documentation for imported shipments.
  • Classify products using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and other government agency requirements.
  • Verify shipping documents, commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading for accuracy.
  • Coordinate with importers, freight forwarders, carriers, and government agencies to resolve shipment issues.
  • Monitor shipment clearance status and address customs holds, exams, or requests for additional information.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with post-entry activities, audits, and corrections as required.
  • Stay informed on changes in customs regulations and trade compliance requirements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1–3 years of customs brokerage, import operations, or customs entry writing experience.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, HTS classification, and import documentation requirements.
  • Experience using customs brokerage software and ACE filing systems preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with government agency regulations such as FDA, USDA, EPA, FCC, or DOT.
  • Knowledge of international trade and logistics operations.
