Direct Support Professional needed to work with an extremely independent individual with epilepsy. This position requires extensive travel throughout the Central New York region and beyond to attend medical appointments, work meetings, shopping, and other errands as needed.
You must be dog-friendly as you will be required to transport this individual's dog in the community and to family events. This position also entails extensive contact with various family members involved in the individual's life, and must be comfortable with family members being transported with the individual.
This is a self-hired position that is paid through the ARC, Oneida-Lewis Chapter, but is not sponsored by the agency and therefore is not eligible for benefits through the agency.
Applicants must:
-pass several background checks, including NYS DMV driver's abstract, CPS, the NYS Sex Offender Registry, and for Medicaid Fraud.
-pass a urine drug test and fingerprinting
-have safe and reliable transportation, as your vehicle will be used
-be dog-friendly and okay with being in your vehicle
-must be flexible with hours and willing to work days. the occasional evening, and Sundays a must
-knowledge of epilepsy and seizure care is desired, but not required
Position Details:
PT/Per Diem up to 30 hours per week
Pay rate: $22/hr with $.51 per mile reimbursement (separate monthly check)
This position is not eligible for benefits through the agency; however, the hiring individual does offer:
1 week of shared paid sick/vacation time per year
