DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Responsible for assembling and welding together metal components on the production line to produce skid steer attachments according to blueprints, • Welds or tack welds metal parts together using electric or gas welding equipment, • Connects hoses from torch to tanks of oxygen and fuel gas, and turns valves to release mixture, • Manually guides gun along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molten puddle, • Welds components in flat, vertical, horizonal and overhead positions, • Positions and secures workpiece using forklift or hand tools such as clamps or jigs, • Welds small and large components, • Maintains and repairs all machinery, • Examines weld for bead size and other specifications, • Chips off excess weld and spatter, • Examines workpiece for defects and measures workpiece with straight edge or template to ensure conformance with specifications, • Follows strict safety regulations and uses personal protective equipment such as heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and steel toed boots, • Monitors machinery for appropriate usage and temperature, • Surpasses customer expectations using skill and attention to detail, • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with co-workers and management, • Continue to grow and learn new skills and knowledge; continue to identify personal areas of improvement in a positive manner to achieve personal goals, • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas, • Complete required trainings as necessary QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS • Understanding of fabrication operations, weld procedures, processes and fixturing required, • Excellent knowledge of welding machinery, electrical equipment and manual tools, • Ability to read fabrication blueprints/engineering drawings, • A valid certificate in welding from an accredited institution is preferred, • High school diploma or equivalent required, • Outstanding attention to detail WORKING CONDITIONS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and high temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk, use hands to handle or feel materials, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds manually. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
