Position Title: Mental Health ProfessionalLACOE Benchmark Classification: Psychologist IIEmployment Status: Non-exempt 11 monthsJOB PURPOSE:Provides mental health services to support social emotional development of enrolled children and their families through mental health assessments, intervention plans and support to staff and families by conducting parent and staff education trainings.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:The Licensed Mental Health Professional provides mental health services to enrolled, child and their families, staff. These mental health services includes but not limited to mental health assessment , developing intervention plan, staff and parent education, emotional environment classroom observation and participation in multidisciplinary meetings.ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:* Design and implement program practices responsive to the identified behavioral and mental health concerns of an individual child or group of children.* Collaborate with other Head Start Service Areas to refer children for diagnostic examination to confirm that emotional or behavioral problems do not have a physical basis.* Assist in providing special help for children with atypical behavior or development.* Complete at least one observation within 45 calendar days from the date of receipt of referral. For example, if a child displays emotional and behavioral concerns only at home, an observation must be completed at home. If a child displays emotional and behaviors concerns at school, an observation must be completed in the classroom. Additional observations should be considered as clinically indicated.* Conduct mental health assessment and intervention.* Provide immediate support and information about mental health services to families in crisis.* Complete accurate and complete timely documentation of mental health services by using LACOE Standardized forms and Child Plus for each mental health referral.* Visit assigned school site once ...
