RECRUITMENT NOTES The Operating Systems Programmer will work within the Field Services Division of The Miami-Dade County Information Technology Department to support the Countyrsquos Enterprise Communication Network. This is complex and specialized technical support work in the planning, design, implementation, evaluation, maintenance, and management of complex enterprise data, voice, wireless, and fiber optic networks used in support of applications and control systems. Duties include but are not limited to the analysis of vendor hardware and vendor software, the determination of corrective measures for hardware and applications malfunctions and the most feasible design for interfaces between hardware and application systems, and the establishment and enforcement of network security and hardware standards. Additional responsibilities include project design and programming of local area networks, wide area networks, wireless 802.11 networks, fiber optic communication networks, forecasting traffic analysis, conducting feasibility studies, and cost studies of new technology and production network infrastructure. The position will be salary based, may require after hours work to accommodate project requirements to mitigate impact to customers, on call duties, and require the incumbent to lift switches, boxes, and perform manual tasks. General direction is received from an administrative superior who confers on application and operation problems and evaluates work for quality of results. This position will entail effective communication with stakeholders at all levels and personify the integrity of established service level commitments. Experience in designing, managing, and implementing complex network infrastructure projects is preferred.
