Lead Sterile Processing Educator-PAH FT Various Hours.
JOB PURPOSE:At Piedmont Atlanta we have embarked on a 10-year expansion, starting with a new, 16-floor tower that will increase our capacity to care for our patients. This new tower will house up to 408 beds and 13 new operating rooms, for a 22> increase in Piedmont Atlanta’s capacity to care for patients and the community. The growth begins with the establishment of the Marcus Heart and Vascular Center through the generosity of philanthropist Bernie Marcus and The Marcus Foundation. This state-of-the-art facility speaks to Piedmont’s reputation as a premier destination center for cardiovascular care and will enable the critical expansion of other key healthcare services.The Lead Sterile Processing Educator ensures that Sterile Processing technicians at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital are properly trained and operating within the guidelines set forth by various industry standards and regulations including, but not limited to IAHCSMM, CBSPD, AAMI, AORN, OSHA, and accrediting bodies. Performs various other training duties related to instrument processing as necessary.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:High School Graduation or GEDCompletion of an accredited sterile processing or surgical technology course. Online programs that do not offer hands on instruction or experience will not be accepted.MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Minimum 5 years’ experience of active work within the sterile processing department, as a Technician, Coordinator or Lead.MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:Current certification as a Sterile Processing Technician from one of the two certification boards (IAHCSMM or CSPD).ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:Certification of an instrument specialist required within (1) year of employment.
