The Principal Grant & Contract Officer (PGCO), as a member of the centralized office of Research Administration (ORA), is responsible for working with department leadership on strategic operations that will provide Principal Investigators (PI) accurate and comprehensive pre- and post-award administration of research awards and clinical trials. This is in furtherance of the strategic vision to create outstanding translational and clinical research in a dynamic environment for medical education. In this role, you will serve as a subject matter experts in the administration of the most complex and specialized of sponsored grants and contracts.Essential job duties and responsibilities include:* Represents Cedars-Sinai in the most complex negotiations of the budget and in other contractual elements binding the institution. May work closely with Legal Affairs and Risk Management attorneys to ensures that the agreed upon conditions adequately meet PI and Cedars-Sinai requirements.* Communicates with assigned Principal Investigators (PI's) and departments (typically those most complex projects) regarding any developments, according to their professional judgments, that require administrative action to ensure compliance of agency requirements.* Serves as subject matter expert in independently administering the most complex and specialized of Federal, Non-Federal and Industry grants/contracts.* Advises the PI's of significant issues during the development and submission of grant and contract proposals, and complex funding mechanisms. Review and guidance is focused in the areas of meeting agency requirements and assuring institutional compliance.* Coordinates sequential administrative review and approval of applications, thereby maintaining integrity and meaning of the review process.* Trains and mentors grant & contract officers to advance teams education and ensures cooperation amongst internal and ext...
