Job Description Prep Cook Position Summary The Prep Cook is responsible for preparing ingredients, assembling food items, and supporting daily production activities for the restaurant, live-food stations, delivery operations, and production facility. This position plays a key role in maintaining food quality, consistency, safety, and efficiency while ensuring products are prepared according to company standards and production schedules. Key Responsibilities • Prepare and portion ingredients, including washing, cutting, slicing, chopping, mixing, and measuring food items according to recipes and production specifications., • Assist with the preparation and assembly of menu items, cold retail products, grab-and-go meals, and catering orders., • Support production schedules to ensure adequate product availability for restaurant operations, live-food stations, retail locations, and delivery customers., • Package, label, and date food products in accordance with company standards, food safety regulations, and customer requirements., • Maintain quality, consistency, and presentation standards for all prepared products., • Assist with inventory management by monitoring ingredient levels, rotating stock using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures, and notifying management of shortages., • Receive, inspect, and properly store deliveries of food, packaging materials, and supplies., • Prepare products for daily deliveries and assist with order staging and distribution activities as needed., • Ensure workstations, equipment, and food preparation areas are clean, organized, and properly sanitized at all times., • Follow all food safety, sanitation, HACCP, health department, and company operating procedures., • Operate kitchen equipment safely, including slicers, mixers, food processors, ovens, and packaging equipment., • Minimize food waste by following proper preparation, storage, and portion control procedures., • Assist with menu changes, new product rollouts, and seasonal production initiatives., • Work collaboratively with kitchen staff, production teams, delivery personnel, and management to ensure smooth daily operations., • Report equipment malfunctions, food quality concerns, inventory shortages, and operational issues to supervisors promptly., • Maintain accurate production records, labeling logs, temperature logs, and cleaning schedules as required., • Support special events, catering production, and high-volume operational periods as assigned. Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent preferred., • Previous experience in food preparation, restaurant operations, commissary kitchens, catering, or food production environments preferred., • Basic knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling practices., • Ability to follow recipes, production schedules, and written instructions accurately., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality., • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety and cleanliness standards., • Strong teamwork and communication skills., • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds., • Flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
