Role Description The Assistant Stylist is full-time or part-time, on-site role based in Fairfield, NJ. This role is designed for someone serious about building a career behind the chair. Working alongside experienced stylists, the Assistant Stylist will gain hands-on exposure to technical services, guest care, salon operations, and the standards required to grow into a successful stylist. Key Responsibilities • Assist stylists throughout guest services to support a seamless, efficient experience, • Prepare and reset stations, tools, products, and materials between appointments, • Shampoo, condition, drape, and support guest comfort throughout services, • Assist with color, treatments, styling, and other technical services based on training, licensing, and demonstrated skill level, • Maintain clean, organized, and service-ready styling, shampoo, color, and shared areas, • Support laundry, sanitation, restocking, and daily salon opening and closing procedures, • Participate in required salon education, training, demonstrations, and coaching, • Build foundational skills in styling, product knowledge, guest care, service timing, and salon procedures, • Communicate proactively with stylists and team members to support guest needs and salon flow, • Receive feedback professionally and take ownership of continued growth and development Ideal Candidate • Passionate about building a long-term career in the beauty industry, • Currently enrolled in cosmetology school, recently graduated, or appropriately licensed or permitted for role responsibilities, • Eager to learn and highly receptive to coaching and feedback, • Professional, polished, reliable, and comfortable interacting with guests, • Proactive, organized, and attentive to detail, • Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, • Willing to support the operational responsibilities that keep a high-performing salon running smoothly, • Motivated by education, growth, and the opportunity to develop behind the chair Previous salon experience is preferred but not always required for the right candidate. A strong work ethic, professional attitude, willingness to learn, and genuine interest in developing a career behind the chair are essential.
