Housekeeper Job Description
A housekeeper maintains clean, sanitary, and orderly environments in private homes, hotels, or commercial facilities. Key responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting, changing linens, doing laundry, and restocking supplies. They must be detail-oriented, able to lift up to 30 lbs, and stand for extended periods.
Core Responsibilities
- Deep Cleaning: Dusting furniture, polishing fixtures, cleaning windows, mirrors, and sanitizing bathrooms and kitchens.
- Floor Care: Vacuuming carpets, sweeping, and mopping floors.
- Linens & Laundry: Changing bed linens, washing, drying, folding, and ironing clothing and linens.
- Maintenance: Emptying trash, replenishing toiletries, and reporting maintenance issues or damages to supervisors.
- Organization: Tidying rooms, organizing closets, and keeping common areas orderly.
Key Requirements & Skills
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, bend, reach, and lift (approx. 25-35 lbs) for long periods.
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Time Management: Ability to follow a schedule and work independently or as part of a team.
- Reliability: Trustworthiness, especially in private household settings.
