The Emergency Services Support Assistant performs clinical, clerical, and administrative support functions for the Emergency Department. Primary Duties: · Provides direct patient care under the supervision of the Nursing or Medical staff, performing routine sterile and nonsterile procedures and splinting according to Unit/Hospital policy. Answers phones and routes calls to appropriate personnel or departments, exemplifying Guest, and staff relations in all activities. · Performs Quality Improvement activities to ensure accuracy of duties performed by self and co-workers. Precepts new associates as assigned to ensure all job duties have been performed on a shift-by-shift basis. Maintains direct observation of patient when functioning as an Observation Attendant. Qualifications: · High School Diploma or GED. · In addition, one of the following three requirements must be met: o Successful completion of an EMT-B program; o one year experience as a nursing assistant, office medical assistant; o emergency department assistant in a medical setting; o BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) student who has completed the sophomore year and has at least one semester of clinical experience. · Basic Life Support.
