We are a non profit that brings book clubs and writing workshops to incarcerated women at Rikers Island. We are looking for someone to intern with us in exchange for school credit. Your main tasks would be keeping a calendar, answering e mails, scheduling etc. eventually we would love if you could join us at Rikers Island and help host the meetings with us. We are just starting out but we are very passionate about the work we do and ideally we would want someone who also feels passionately about this kind of work. We will also be hosting our first fund raiser in the spring and we will need help with that as well. This is not a paid position as we do not have any financial backing at the moment but eventually we will and if you are the right fit, we would hire you full time. In the mean time we can only offer school credits. School approval is required.
