Kitchen Staff Job Description
Position Title: Kitchen Staff / Kitchen Assistant
Summary:
Responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the kitchen, including food preparation, cleanliness, organization, and supporting cooks and management to ensure efficient service and high-quality food.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare ingredients (wash, cut, portion, and store food items)
- Assist cooks and chefs during food preparation and service
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, equipment, and workstations
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Properly store food and label items according to regulations
- Operate basic kitchen equipment (ovens, slicers, grills, fryers)
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen tools as needed
- Take out trash and maintain clean garbage areas
- Restock supplies and notify management when inventory is low
- Follow instructions from kitchen supervisors or managers
- Assist in receiving and organizing deliveries
Requirements:- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Basic understanding of kitchen safety and sanitation
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Team-oriented with good communication skills
- Flexible schedule (including nights, weekends, and holidays)
- Previous kitchen experience is a plus but not required
Physical Requirements:- Standing, walking, and moving for extended periods
- Lifting, bending, and carrying supplies
- Working in hot, cold, and wet environments
Work Environment:- Fast-paced kitchen setting
- Exposure to heat, sharp tools, and kitchen equipment
- Requires strict adherence to cleanliness and safety standards
Additional Duties:- Assist in catering or special events when needed
- Support other locations if required
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
