Camp Ramah in the Berkshires is a vibrant non-profit summer camp in upstate NY, where Campers in grades 3-10, grow in a beautiful and safe setting. Surrounded by life-long friends and nurtured by spirited role models and outstanding program staff, we craft an immersive and powerful community. From sports to the arts, swimming to outdoor adventure. Camp is a transformative experience for campers, staff, and families from across the New York metropolitan area and around the world.
Camp Ramah is seeking dynamic and responsible Swim Instructors and Lifeguards to join our waterfront team for the summer. Staff members play a vital role in creating a safe, engaging, and supportive aquatic environment for campers of all ages and skill levels
On-site certification opportunities are available. Previous experience as a swim instructor or lifeguard preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct swim lessons for individuals and groups across varying ages and abilities
- Teach proper swimming techniques, water safety, and rescue skills
- Monitor swimmers to ensure safety and provide corrective feedback
- Maintain constant vigilance in assigned zones
- Collaborate with the waterfront team to foster a safe, secure, and positive environment
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 17 years old by the start of camp
- Openness to experiencing Judaism and Jewish culture
- Ability to remain alert and responsive in an active aquatic environment
- Meet physical requirements outlined during training
- Ability to observe and supervise assigned areas effectively
- Ability to sit or stand while maintaining attention for extended periods
- Must be able to assist and support children in the water
- Eligible to obtain Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, and Swim Instructor certifications (certification available on-site)
Schedule & Commitment:
- Seasonal summer position (June through August)
- Full participation in staff training required
- Residential and commuting options available
Compensation & Perks:
- Weekly Pay: $600–$1,000, based on experience and role
- Housing and meals provided for residential staff
- Opportunities for additional hours and responsibilities
