Job Description Job Title: General Maintenance Mechanic Job Description The General Maintenance Mechanic improves the reliability and performance of plant equipment by performing preventive and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing, and rebuilding industrial machinery in a food manufacturing environment. This role ensures equipment runs safely and efficiently to support continuous production and maintenance schedules. Responsibilities • Demonstrate safe work practices at all times, following company safety procedures with a strong focus on zero injuries., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including tools and equipment., • Follow and comply with all Safe Quality Food (SQF), HACCP, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements., • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including participation in performance systems and maintenance pillars focused on reliability and preventive maintenance., • Effectively and accurately troubleshoot industrial equipment and machinery to maintain production and maintenance schedules., • Make routine adjustments and repairs to mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems on industrial food manufacturing equipment., • Monitor repairs after completion to verify that issues are fully resolved, taking ownership of problems until they are corrected and focusing on doing the job right the first time., • Perform assigned preventive and predictive maintenance tasks, including cleaning, inspection, and lubrication, to keep equipment in proper working order and minimize downtime., • Provide feedback to improve and optimize preventive maintenance procedures and schedules., • Perform and validate equipment changeovers as needed to support production requirements., • Dismantle, inspect, evaluate, and rebuild equipment and machinery, ensuring high-quality workmanship and reliable operation., • Assist in maintenance planning by identifying required parts and work, and by entering accurate notifications and information into SAP, including parts and material details when possible., • Prioritize work based on business needs and respond to assigned tasks with a high sense of urgency., • Participate in breakdown elimination efforts to reduce the frequency of equipment failures and improve overall equipment reliability., • Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated experience in mechanical troubleshooting and repair of industrial food manufacturing equipment such as boilers, sorters, sizers, sensors, evaporators, and packaging equipment., • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems., • Experience performing preventive maintenance to ensure equipment operates properly and to minimize downtime., • Ability to perform welding and basic fabrication on equipment as needed., • Demonstrable knowledge and hands-on experience using SAP for maintenance notifications, parts identification, and work documentation., • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing., • Proven ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment., • Experience working with food manufacturing equipment and processes under SQF, HACCP, and GMP standards., • Familiarity with continuous improvement and performance systems in a manufacturing environment., • Experience supporting breakdown elimination and reliability-focused maintenance programs., • Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment with changing priorities. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oakdale, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.94 - $38.94/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
