Position Summary
Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart seeks a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support the academic and personal development of our students. The Teaching Assistant will collaborate closely with lead teachers to provide instruction, manage classroom activities, and help maintain a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and instructional activities.
Provide one-on-one or small group support to students to reinforce learning concepts.
Supervise students during classroom transitions, recess, lunch, and other non-instructional times.
Prepare and organize instructional materials and classroom supplies.
Support classroom management strategies that promote respect, engagement, and positive behavior.
Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and school events as required.
Uphold the values and mission of Duchesne Academy and model behavior aligned with the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart education.
Qualifications
High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in education or a related field preferred.
Previous experience working with children in a school or educational setting is highly desirable.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
A commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
Understanding of and respect for Catholic traditions and Sacred Heart values.
Working Conditions
Must be able to work in a classroom setting with active student engagement.
May require some lifting, bending, or other physical activity typical in a classroom environment.
Schedule may vary depending on school needs, with occasional evenings or weekends for events or meetings.
