About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced Tourism & Destination Strategist to join our team of collaborators on upcoming projects across the U.S. The ideal candidate has a strong background in tourism, place branding, and economic development with a passion for helping communities tell their story and grow sustainably.


This is a contract-based position that will involve collaborating with our team on citywide tourism strategies, neighborhood identity initiatives, and destination marketing plans.


What You’ll Do

  • Develop tourism and destination marketing strategies for neighborhoods, cultural districts, and cities
  • Conduct research and market assessments to identify visitor audiences and positioning opportunities
  • Collaborate with brand strategists, designers, and engagement teams to shape messaging and storytelling frameworks
  • Support proposal development and contribute to creative strategy for public-sector and developer-led projects
  • Participate in stakeholder sessions, workshops, and presentations as needed
  • Establish and measure performance metrics for tourism and destination campaigns

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in tourism, destination marketing, or economic development
  • Proven track record working with DMOs, CVBs, city agencies, or place-branding consultancies
  • Experience crafting or implementing tourism campaigns for diverse communities and economic contexts
  • Understanding of the intersection between tourism, local business ecosystems, and cultural identity
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; comfortable working collaboratively on project teams
  • Based in the U.S. (Mid-Atlantic region preferred)

Nice to Have

  • Experience working on public-sector RFPs or federally funded community projects
  • Background in community engagement or creative placemaking

Compensation & Terms

  • Contract-based compensation varies by project scope and deliverables
  • Remote work with occasional travel for site visits or workshops (expenses covered)
