Job Description The Accounting Clerk performs a variety of clerical and accounting tasks to support the daily operations of the Accounting Department. This position is responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, data entry, and maintaining financial and statistical records. Duties include processing bank reconciliations, generating billing statements, managing monthly bank draft payments and returns, and preparing journal entries. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks, and the ability to handle phone calls professionally. On-the-job training will be provided. Key Responsibilities * Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and timely. * Perform data entry and maintain organized financial and statistical records. * Complete monthly bank reconciliations. * Generate billing statements and ensure accurate distribution to customers or clients. * Manage monthly bank draft payments and process returned items. * Prepare and post journal entries as needed. * Answer and make phone calls in a professional and courteous manner. * Support the accounting team with other administrative or clerical duties as required. Qualifications * Education: High school diploma or equivalent required * Experience: Prior accounting experience preferred but not required; on-the-job training will be provided. * Skills & Abilities: * Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks (required). * Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting. * Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities. * Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a professional phone manner. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
