Job DescriptionSalary: $18.53 - $25.50/hour Position Title: Sous Chef Assisted Living Facility Status: Non-Exempt Location: Titusville Towers Reports to: Chef Position Summary: The Sous Chef supports the Head Chef in managing all culinary operations at Titusville Towers Assisted Living Facility. This role ensures residents receive high-quality, nutritious meals while maintaining food safety, supervising staff, and supporting efficient kitchen operations. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: • Assist the Head Chef with menu planning and recipe development that emphasizes variety, nutrition, and seasonal selections., • Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff in food preparation, portion control, and safety practices., • Oversee daily food production to maintain quality, consistency, and presentation standards., • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely replenishment of food and supplies., • Ensure compliance with all food safety and sanitation regulations, including HACCP guidelines., • Work collaboratively with dietary staff to accommodate residents dietary needs and preferences., • Assist in scheduling kitchen staff to provide adequate coverage for all meal services., • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen, including proper food storage and labeling., • Support administrative functions such as inventory tracking, menu costing, and budget management., • Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and a positive attitude in all interactions., • Assist with emergency evacuation of residents as needed. Qualifications: • Food Manager certification, or equivalent (required)., • Previous experience as a Sous Chef or similar culinary leadership role; healthcare or senior living experience strongly preferred., • Culinary degree or professional certification (preferred)., • Knowledge of HACCP and food safety regulations., • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to train and motivate staff., • Experience in menu planning, recipe development, and cost control., • Ability to collaborate effectively with dietary staff, residents, and healthcare team members., • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled., • Experience preparing special diets (low-sodium, diabetic, pureed, etc.)., • Familiarity with nutritional guidelines for older adults. Working Environment & Conditions: • Climate-controlled facility; kitchen may become hot during summer months., • Weekend and holiday work required., • Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 30 lbs. using proper body mechanics or equipment., • Bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods required for kitchen and cleaning tasks. Compensation & Benefits: Pay Grade: 10 Salary range: $18.53 $25.50, DOE.
