Job DescriptionAbout the Client Our client is a pharmaceutical manufacturing company operating in a regulated, cGMP-compliant environment, focused on quality, safety, and operational efficiency. The organization supports high-volume production and packaging operations, maintaining strict standards across all manufacturing processes. Role Overview: Under limited supervision, the Packaging Mechanic III is responsible for operating, repairing, and maintaining packaging equipment in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This role supports equipment performance, production efficiency, and compliance with cGMP, safety, and environmental standards. The position requires hands-on involvement in equipment troubleshooting, diagnostics, maintenance, and changeovers, as well as support for equipment improvements and reliability initiatives in a fast-paced environment. This role requires flexibility to work across all shifts (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) and to work overtime, extended hours, or weekends as needed to support production demands. Job Requirements: • High school diploma or GED required., • 7+ years of experience in the repair and maintenance of packaging equipment or industrial machinery, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience., • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work in a fast-paced environment., • Knowledge of lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and compliance with EHS regulations., • Ability to interpret basic blueprints, schematics, and exploded parts diagrams., • Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions., • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills., • Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group settings., • Ability to read and interpret workplace graphics, tables, maps, gauges, and diagrams., • Solid math skills, including basic operations, ratios, percentages, and unit conversions., • Familiarity with PLC systems (Programmable Logic Controls) and ladder logic., • Experience working with packaging equipment and automation systems, including cartoners, inkjet coders, labeling systems, slat fillers, vision systems, and Allen Bradley HMI/VFD platforms.Preferred Qualifications:, • Technical school certification., • 7+ years of mechanical and electrical experience in a packaging/manufacturing environment preferred., • Experience using machine shop equipment.Physical Requirements:, • Exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibration., • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the shift., • Ability to lift and/or move items over 50 lbs., • Ability to perform tasks requiring close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.Key Responsibilities:, • Diagnose & Repair Equipment: Diagnose, rebuild, modify, and repair packaging equipment to ensure optimal performance., • Perform Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine and preventive maintenance to reduce unscheduled downtime., • Execute Changeovers: Perform efficient, timely changeovers to meet production requirements., • Recommend Equipment Improvements: Identify and recommend equipment upgrades and modifications to improve performance and reliability., • Ensure Compliance: Perform all work in accordance with cGMP, safety practices, housekeeping standards, and environmental regulations., • Support Team Collaboration: Participate in team processes and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and employees., • Manage Tools & Materials: Initiate purchase of required tools, parts, and materials, ensuring accountability., • Continuous Skill Development: Upgrade skills and knowledge as equipment and technology evolve., • Maintain Work Quality: Demonstrate commitment to quality craftsmanship and job ownership., • Report Equipment Issues: Notify the Supervisor of breakdowns that require 20 minutes or more to repair., • Work with PLC Systems: Develop familiarity with PLC systems and ladder logic., • Promote Safety: Report health and safety hazards and perform appropriate corrective actions., • Perform other job-related duties as assignedTraining:, • New hires or internal transfers will complete a three-month training and orientation period., • Proficiency will be evaluated by the area manager or assigned trainer and documented accordingly.
