Job Description Works-in-Progress Associates (WPA) is seeking an experienced Mechanical Inspector to become an integral part of our team! The Brooklyn Animal Care Center (BACC) project will include demolition of the existing building and construction of a new two-story 23,845 SF building on the same lot. The new facility will house admissions, adoptions, medical services, and boarding for dogs, cats, and rabbits. Support spaces will include open-air courtyards and a dog run, offices, restrooms, and storage. Site work will include parking for staff, visitors, and shelter vehicles, as well as site lighting and low-maintenance planting throughout. This position is in-person, Monday-Friday for the duration of approximately 10 months. Minimum Requirements: • Baccalaureate Degree in engineering/architecture and/or construction related field from an accredited college or university, • Minimum 3 years of full-time experience, • Demonstrated proficiency with all applicable software packages including but not limited to MS Windows; MS Office (including Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), and Adobe Acrobat., • Must be authorized to work in the United States, • Must be willing to undergo a background check, in accordance with local law/regulations. Primary Responsibilities: • Reviewing shop drawings and technical info and follow up with GC/Designers to comply with spec and contract documents., • Ensuring approvals obtained in line with the submittal schedules and release for Just in Time (JIT) delivery to site of critical long lead items., • Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports as required, • Following up with GC regarding submissions of critical docs., • Assist in reviewing payment requisitions and verifying field quantities. Skills: • Ability to build and strengthen long-lasting client relationships by providing reliable service and project solutions., • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all management levels. Must have excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills., • Must have strong organizational and time management skills., • Must be able to adapt and prioritize, meeting deadlines, in a fast-paced environment., • Operate with a sense of urgency, quickly responding to clients., • Demonstrated leadership, responsiveness, and accountability., • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills., • Proactive and take initiative.Company DescriptionWPA is a woman-owned Owner's Representative firm and we manage construction projects for mostly nonprofits including schools, hospitals, libraries, etc. in the New York City area. We have been in business for over 30 years and have completed well over 400 projects. We currently have somewhere between 40-50 employees. Because we are a woman-owned firm we are on contracts with larger Construction Management firms such as LiRo, Hill International, Jacobs, Tectonic, Gilbane, etc. and we help them to meet their WBE goals. We provide Project Managers, Inspectors, Estimators, Office Engineers and so on.
